This is an incredible pair of matched associated mastodon cervical (neck) vertebrae. These were found stacked on top of each other in Pleistocene clay. Beautiful two-tone patina - the darker portions were exposed to the dark tanic water, and the lighter portions were still covered by clay. They match up exceptionally well and would make a great display if mounted together. These are from a sub-adult individual that was still growing - one of these has been glued as it was not fully fused. They are incredibly well preserved and really exceptional all around. Awesome and very unique pair.
