This is a beyond rare enamel midsection of a saber cat upper canine (saber). Saber cats, specifically Smilodon, are the most easily recognizable of the ice age (Pleistocene) fauna, and of saber cat fossils the most coveted by collectors is the upper canine. Pictures do this piece absolutely no justice, it has gorgeous ultra glossy black enamel. The tip was likely damaged while the animal was still alive as is very typical for sabers. This specimen is from our private collection where is has been for years; this is one of only a very small handful of Smilodon sabers that we have ever offered for sale. This is a beyond rare representation of the most desirable tooth from the most desirable species - the iconic saber cat!!
