This is an absolutely MASSIVE section of mastodon tusk from the Pleistocene of North Florida. This specimen measures 13" long x 6 3/4" diameter and weighs 11lb 7.7oz. It is solid and very well mineralized. It features some beautiful patina with a wide range of colors. This piece is unique in that it still has a section of the outer bark on one side, but shows also the interior structure. Shows the schreger lines and rays very well. It was found in two pieces and has been glued, but it has been coated with a preservative so it will be safe to handle for many years to come. Fully round and very impressive specimen that displays extremely well. These are INCREDIBLY RARE to find this large, intact, and fully round.
