This is a very unusual pathological alligator metapodial bone. This specimen has a strange curve in the bone on the proximal end. Not sure what caused this pathology, it does not appear to have been broken and healed, possibly an injury to the foot while the individual was very young and the bones were still spongy. Fascinating specimen - pictures do it no justice.
