This is a beyond rare display-ready tapir skull that is mounted on a custom steel stand. This specimen has less than 15% restoration, just to the typical zygomatic arches, coronoid and condylar processes, symphysis, nasals, and three incisors. Three upper molars are composites from another individual, but all else is original and associated. The cranium is all original which is virtually never seen. One feature that makes this specimen really unique is the presence of two additional pathological teeth on one cheek - we have never seen another example like this anywhere. This specimen was found in a sink hole with three other tapirs in 1992. Truly incredible specimen that makes an eye popping display. This specimen is from our private collection.
