Over the years we've sold two huge mastodon teeth that were just barely 8", those were the biggest two we had ever seen until this behemoth came along. Words and pictures cannot do this tooth justice... 4lbs, 7.3oz. 8 3/4" long. SIX HUMPS!! We've had this tooth sitting on our desk for over a month, and the sheer mass of it is still mind boggling. Oh, and as if the size weren't enough, it also has color. One whole side has a wide range of colors: red, orange, maroon, cream, off-white, navy blue, and on and on. And then there are roots as well!! Everything a top end mastodon tooth could possibly have, but all on the same tooth. This would be the centerpiece of ANY mastodon tooth collection, including ours, we do not have a tooth anywhere even approaching the magnitude of this tooth in our collection. And if it doesn't sell quickly, this one will be the centerpiece of our mastodon collection. High quality, one-of-a-kind fossils like this continue to go up, up, up in value. Is the price high? Maybe... Maybe not... Who knows, because we've never seen a tooth of this size and quality for sale anywhere.
